The crisis to me and a lot of other people is the cost of health care. You pay a lot but you don’t get a lot.

The problem is government is too involved in health care.

We are currently taxed
$680,000,000,000.00 Per year
to pay for socialized health care.

That is $4,857.00 of taxes per year , for every worker in america.

If the free market was allowed to determine cost of health care, it would be MUCH lower. The problem is, with so much government involvement, there is no free market in health. Much like in the energy sector.

I think Jilibean stated very well the problem.

A quote from Wikipedia states “The United States is the only wealthy, industrialized nation that does not have a universal health care system.” This means there is little to no support from the federal government for those who are underinsured or uninsured, placing all health care responsibilities on the shoulders of the patient, whether they can afford it or not. This is why so many Americans refuse to see doctors and just go sick; apparently, the American government feels that only those wealthy enough to afford health care are the only ones who DESERVE health care.

Whoever could solve this one should be the new prez. The system is a total trainwreck, with inflated costs, etc. Too many people fall through the cracks and even big companies are slashing health care benefits. Yet, if you are uninsured, and still not eligible for government aid, you cannot afford to pay the costs on your own.
My daughter has a major upcoming back surgery. The cost is aprx. $250,000. If I were uninsured, how could I ever afford to pay this on my own? That kind of sums it up right there.
